HI EVERYONE!
Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of Lulu posts in recent weeks but, as new bloggers, we aren’t yet au fait with finding content for our “travel blog” without any travel. Just want to let you know that Lulu Van Travellers are still here- waiting and hoping!
With that in mind this is by way of a general update of how we are doing, and what we’ve been up to.
MISSING FROM OUR LAST POST (OOPS!)
There were a couple of things which were missing from our last post (oops!) which we will share with you now.
One of the things we did during our first forays into van travel was to collect mementos as we went, business cards, leaflets, menus, etc., and add them to our memory board.
This is everything we managed to collect in our first season of travels. It needs a bit of a rejig, it didn’t work quite as well as we’d hoped, so we can start again when we, well, start again!
We also started our sticker collection! We have had a couple more since this pic was taken, and can’t wait to add to our wall!
As we have mentioned before, we both work for a local builders merchant. Construction is deemed an ‘essential’ industry. This means that we are classed as key workers and are both still working full time for the supply of essential building materials only. You would be amazed how busy we have been , and just how many ways there are to define the term ‘essential’!
Like so many people on our planet we have been through some trying times recently. My elderly father-in-law, affectionately known as Bampi or Father bear, is currently in his fifth week of hospitalisation following a fall, with all manner of complications on the side – Covid and pneumonia included! Thankfully they build those Cardiff boys strong and, somewhat against the odds, he is fighting back with some success!
The man is a force of Nature!
We are still missing our vast hoard of offspring and, at this rate, our unbearably adorable one year old granddaughter will be receiving her degree by the time we get to see her again. In theory we should have a wedding to attend in May, no idea whether it will happen, or if we’ll all be able to go if it does. Optimistically we had also rebooked our thrice moved ferry booking for France to June of this year, not holding our breath for that one either!
HOW LUCKY WE ARE
That said we are more than aware how lucky we are to be fit(ish), healthy, and in a warm comfortable home with two full wages coming in, unlike thousands of other families.
So we potter on. Plotting and planning for future travel, working out routes for our long awaited French trip. Seriously considering Scotland as a back up in case we have to postpone again.
If you follow us on Instagram @lulu_van_travellers you may have noticed we have a newly designed logo in the pipeline, just in case we can ever swap stickers again. Many thanks t0 Keri Andrews who used to work with Kev at LBS, especially for the drawing of Lulu! Just getting quotes now for stickers, mugs and T-shirts.
If anybody fancies a sticker swap, DM us. And inevitably there are one or more tweaks we’d like to do for Lulu, because why not!?
Over the last couple of weeks we (Kev!) has done some work on our website. It seems we have finally worked out some of the glitches surrounding our “Contact Us” page. Our page will now receive, and send, emails (and it’s only taken us seven months to work it out!) We have also, however, just discovered that the WordPress package we have won’t let us access them! This we are also working on but, if you have “Contacted Us” in the last few months SORRY! We are not rude, just technically challenged!
So there you have it. Please stay with us if you have a quiet moment with nothing better to do! We will try to keep posting when we have something interesting, or exciting, or just our usual nonsense. Stay safe, and keep travelling whenever and wherever you can and, who knows, we may all get to meet up in the not too distant future. All we can do is carry on waiting and hoping!
